    Wisconsin Rising Movie Screen
The 56-minute documentary film, Wisconsin Rising, tells the story of what became the largest sustained workers’ resistance in American history. In 2011 Wisconsin was the canary in the coalmine for America as newly elected Republican Governor Scott Walker suddenly stripped collective bargaining rights from the state’s public employees, undoing eight decades of hard-won rights. Wisconsin Rising catapults the viewer into the days when Wisconsinites fought back against power and injustice. Happening on the heels of the revolutionary Arab Spring and months before the Occupy movement, Wisconsinites spontaneously occupied their state Capitol for weeks and took to the streets as rarely before seen in American history. The Unatego Teachers Association has joined with several area union locals to co-host the screening of this documentary movie. The movie event has been strategically planned to be the first of several community events to inform union members and the community of what has happened across the country to public employees and the unions which represent them.

Alyson Markell, artist and former senior creature modeler at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), a division of Lucas Digital in San Francisco, CA, on Tuesday, November 4 at 7 p.m., in the Anderson Center for the Arts on the Hartwick campus. The lecture is free, open to public, and sponsored by the Hartwick College Foreman Gallery. During her tenure at Lucas, Markell worked on such films as The Chronicles of Narnia, Mission: Impossible 3, Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace, Men in Black, three Harry Pottermovies, and many other major films and television commercials. She has also created 3D models for Sega Genesis electronic games, and done freelance illustration for Broderbund Software Inc., and The Learning Company. Growing Microgreens Indoors
Microgreen sprouts are an excellent source of protein and vitamins. We can show you how to grow them safely indoors and how grreeaaatt it is to have fresh salad in the winter. They are great mixed in with other salads, on sandwiches, in soups, stir-fry, etc. You can easily grow salad leaves throughout the year, even without any outdoor space. What seeds to use? You can even use seeds leftover from your summer plantings. How to grow them? We will show you the steps, show actual samples, and answer your questions. What else can you do with Microgreens? We will discuss recipes, share stories, and take notes. Did I mention the Library has great wifi? Come to our next Meetup to learn a little bit about how to grow Microgreens for salads, and other things. Bring your laptop & tablets, take notes –library has wonderful wifi. What seeds to use? You can even use seeds leftover from your summer plantings. The next Meetup is on Monday, November 10th. The Library is closed on Tuesday for Veterans Day. RSVP is necessary for seating. Bring a friend, too.

Language Acquisition Through Motor Planning (LAMP) Training
Springbrook, a leading provider of innovative supports for people with special needs, will host a Language Acquisition Through Motor Planning (LAMP) training session November 20 – 21. LAMP is an augmentative alternative communication (AAC) approach that teaches language and communication to individuals who are non-verbal or experience a limited range of verbal abilities by using iPads and speech-generating devices in order to provide an independent and spontaneous expression method. While LAMP was originally intended to assist non-verbal individuals with autism, it is now being adapted to benefit people with a wide range of disabilities and communication needs. A few of the topics to be covered include: the role of motor learning in language development and AAC fluency, device features that support implementation, choosing and teaching vocabulary, and introduction to the Words for Life AAC iPad app. This training session is eligible for 0.8 ASHA CEU’s (American Speech-Language Hearing Association Continuing Education Units), as well as eight contact hours.

Bluestone wsg Funk Mysst and Deadwood
Bluestone is a six piece blues and blues rock outfit consisting of: Lead guitarist Mike Deflumere, Singer Shari Gage, Drummer Brian Gorsch, Bassist Tripp Swart, and Keyboardist John Saxe. We’ve been recently joined by our good friend, Rob Norris who will be adding Harmonica, as well as Guitar and Vocals. Deadwood is a classic rock cover trio from Oneonta, NY. The trio consists of Lou Berrios on guitar, Klootie Hagis on bass guitar, and Derek Leventritt on drums. The trio is known for creating unique renditions of songs by Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam, Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, and Crosby Stills and Nash. The groove is so deep in this trio that you will stay grounded throughout the hypnotizing melodic interplay between the bass and guitar.

    Driftwood
The energy of rock n’ roll is impossible to categorize – mercurial, specific to its beholder and profoundly reflective. From the Binghamton, New York music scene comes Driftwood, a band with a rock ‘n’ roll soul and a folk art mind. Carving out a name for themselves with electrifying live performances, they bring one of the most unique, raw sounds to the Americana/roots music scene. Incorporating upright bass, banjo, acoustic guitar and violin, the ghost of traditional American folk music lives in their palette. But the melodies, the harmonies and the lyrics are something else entirely.
