Oneonta's recycling center is located at the MOSA-operated Southern Transfer Station on Silas Lane, adjacent to Exit 13 of Interstate 88 near the western edge of the city of Oneonta. It is open Monday through Saturday 7am - 3pm. Call MOSA at 607-432-9540 or 518-296-8884 for more information about the delivery of solid waste. Call the Otsego County Solid Waste Department at 547-4303 for more information about the delivery of recyclable materials.
Recyclable materials can be separated into 2 categories – (1) fiber and (2) mixed containers.
Materials can be taken to Otsego County’s local drop-off sites or left curbside for
your solid waste hauler.

1. Fiber materials (paper and cardboard) – YES – RECYCLABLE
• Newspapers, glossy inserts, magazines, catalogs
• Junk mail, manila folders, envelopes, paper bags
• White, colored, notebook and fax paper, carbonless business forms
• Wrapping paper, greeting cards
• Phone books, soft cover books, hard cover books (covers can stay intact)
• Cardboard (flattened), including corrugated boxes (wavy middle layer)
• Single layer cardboard (gray, brown and non-waxy white boxes)
2. Mixed Containers (plastic, tin, aluminum, glass) – YES – RECYCLABLE – PLEASE RINSE!
• Milk and juice cartons
• Plastic coated beverage cartons
• Clear, green and brown glass bottles and jars
• Plastics marked #1 and #2
• Tin and steel food and beverage cans, metal jar lids
• Aluminum pans and cans
• Rigid plastic items including:
• Rigid plastic buckets and pails up to 5 gallon size
• Rigid plastic toys

• Frozen juice containers (cans and boxes)
• Mildewed or moldy containers
• Window panes, light bulbs, mirrors
• Pyrex, ceramics, pottery, porcelain
• Drinking glasses
• Stryofoam or foam packing
• Plastic items #3 - #7
• Plastic items without recycling numbers
• Auto fluid containers
• Paint cans, spray cans, pesticide cans
• Film plastic
• PVC piping, HDPE piping |
